Rites of Passage

Last weekend we went up to Chicago for one last hurrah. That's right, Matt has FINALLY graduated! Trust me, I never thought this day would come either. But here we are. The ceremony was nice but way too long. I thought the hooding ceremony was better. It is really freaky to think that now Matt has an advanced degree (from a university that is not only accredited, but revered - who'd have thunk it?). But as we all know, it's not about how big the degree is - it's about how you use it (this makes me feel better about only having a dinky english b.a.).

His mom was very proud and happy. I was proud and happy too, but mostly I was just hungry. The thing went right through lunch!

So three cheers for Matty! Go! Go! Go! You did it! I was there for the whole thing and I know that it wasn't always easy and it was almost never fun. Thank you for sticking it out and working so hard for our family - even if it did mean that you had to take time out of your busy tennis schedule to sometimes go to class (but not always). You deserve to wear that funny velvet hat with pride. And so off we go into the world of corporate law and gainful employment (I hope our marriage can survive it - fighting about money was fun! Now what will we argue about?). The legal profession is lucky to have you! And so am I.

Yeah Matt! Congrats! And Congrats Emily for getting through it as well. I wonder who had it worse off?!

Sweet! He looks so smart! Didn't we go to high school with the girl behind him in the 1st picture?
I love the background... where did you find it?

Seriously I think we went to high school with that girl. Joanne?
Bye, bye pink hair hello bangs!

No! I know who you're talking about and that's not her. Joanne was really smart, right? Well that girl is an undergraduate (black robe, flat hat) - you think it took her 8 years to finish her bachelor's degree? No way man. But remind me to show you a picture of the bagpipers - I think John McCain made a special appearance for it.

Happy to find your blog!

Well maybe she took some time off when she came out. That can be exhausting under some circumstances. Enough for say... 4 years off.
p.s. you suck at blogging.
