Quick Update

Wow. It has been a really long time since I posted. I wish I could tell you that I've been super busy doing super exciting things for these past three months, but the truth is I have no idea what I've been doing. Getting more and more pregnant I guess. I did have two (count 'em two) awesome baby showers (shout out to Denae - whoop! whoop!). One was for my ward and one was for my mom's (where I grew up). Also, Matt took this picture of me a couple weeks ago and I meant to post it right away... sorry. This is me preggers.

We have about a week until my due date and I am entering panic mode. I'm really not sure why I thought this was such a good idea nine months ago. It is absolutely surreal. Plus I keep freaking myself out watching A Baby Story. Having a baby sucks! Nobody is happy while they are doing it. So there's that going on.

In other news, Matt had a birthday last week. He's been super busy with work (as in 16, 18 and 24 hour days for two weeks) which may really be a blessing in disguise because now he won't feel like such a weiner taking time off for the baby. Anyway, we had to celebrate a few days late because on his actual birthday (which was Mother's Day and also a Sunday) he worked that 24 day. I made a super cool cake for him. Here it is:

I made a four layer chocolate cake then carved it into a big ball. I dyed the frosting tennis ball color and frosted the cake then dyed some coconut the same color and patted that all over. Then I added the white lines and the personalization. I'm pretty impressed with myself. Last year I did the same thing but with cupcakes. I think that might have been cuter because they were actually tennis ball size. But it was fun to do it on a larger scale. I've been watching Ace of Cakes a lot. I love that show. I'm gonna have to think of something else next year, though. Anybody got any ideas?

Ok, that's my update. I guess next time you hear from me this whole pregnancy thing will be over one way or another. Cross your fingers for me! If he's not cute I'm just going to post pictures of somebody else's cute baby so nobody judges me (so if he's got red hair or is Asian, you'll know you've been duped). Lots of love to all - I'll be in touch soon!

I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you are doing so I'm glad for the update! Way to go, one week left! You'll do great. It'll be a piece of cake. :)

Speaking of cake, that cake is AWESOME. Looks like a lot of work! But it looks great.

So honestly, I think all newborns are kind of funny looking. But I think a good picture strategy is to wrap the blanket up to his chin, pull his hat down to his eyes, and take a picture from the side while he's sleeping. People will just see a baby and think, "Awwww! So cute!" :)

LOVE your bump picture! I don't think I've seen a better.

Here's to a quick labor! I'm looking forward to seeing whatever picture of a baby you choose to post. :D

Hooray-- so good to see you are doing well! My little Norah is getting so much fun so I have to say that the labor sucks but is worth it-- though it was hard for me to focus on the joy of having a baby to get me through the labor since I had no idea how much fun (and work) babies can be. Best of luck for a speedy labor-- don't be too proud to get an epidural, it saved me!

Advice: DO NOT watch Baby Story!
I watched that while I was having contractions at home. Not a good idea. It really freaked me out.

Also. I love "Ace of Cakes" as well.

Good luck-it will all be worth it! I promise!

Oh Emily! You look so cute! Pregnancy looks good on you. The BUMP picture is great!

I love Ace of Cakes too. You should watch more of that and less Baby Story. I used to watch it before I was pregnant and it freaked me out.

I would like to suggest that labor isn't painful like you're going to die. It is A LOT OF WORK but never did I feel like I couldn't handle it. You can handle it. For sure. You're a strong chica. Plus, if you want, they have drugs.

Yea! A post! I'm so excited. Very cute picture. Nice that you risked yours & the baby's lives for it.
Well if the baby is red head or asian maybe it's not us that have been duped, but Matt. Hmmm... He has been working A LOT.

Emily, I have also been thinking of you and am happy to get the update! You probably have had your baby already, and I am READY for some pics.

I really love that Bump picture! What a cute idea.

As this post is a week old now, I'm wondering if you've had the baby yet?? I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly!!

I can't wait to see pictures of the baby. I think all newborns are just SO cute. Plus, you are going to think that your baby is the cutest baby in the whole wide world. :)

Awesome cake! I'm with Danielle-- just yesterday I was wondering if it was time for your baby yet! Best of luck. I sat through my sister's childbirth and it seemed pretty cool. No need to panic, because the nurse has seen it hundreds of times and knows what to do. Love you!
